INDIGENOUS WOMEN - Values from diversity - page 20

For thousands of years Inuit Peoples
(Arctic Peoples) have survived from
hunting and fishing. Climate change
threatens this form of life. Inuit women
are leading the adaptation process to
a different economy. We have started
entrepreneurship in different sectors,
applying the reciprocity principle.
Instead of competing, we work
together and share our knowledge.

Maasai women look forward and work
together. We are artists. Each one of
us has great abilities and knowledge
to create handcrafts that are really
appreciated in the fashion world, but
we have had little capacity to generate
an income out of our art. We created
a Co-operative to strengthen us and
to improve our community through
activities such as crafts, folklore and
livestock production.
